Gardening, plants and love of most things to do with green things have been passed down through the women in my family through the years. I remember my grandma's house packed full of beautiful plants. Outside she never seemed to mind my sitting in her garden eating straight off her plants' vines. Grasping either the fresh cucumber, or a juicy red tomatoe I'd plop my little (at that time!), bottom right down to enjoy the warm, sweet, juicy and incredible tastes of my prizes.

My mom always seemed to find time between raising 6 children to have a big garden. I clearly remember her always fighting with the brightly cheerful dandelions in our yard. Putting us kids to work, with the girls pulling weeds and the boys spading and rototilling up her chosen garden space, helped her a lot. The dandelion thing? It seemed silly to me for Mom to work so hard at pulling out the pretty flowers. They bloomed at least six months a year at our Pacific Northwest home. Then she would turn around, and in a flower bed nearby, plant a yellow marigold! Boy! They looked pretty close to the same to me! Vivid memories.

With my love and knowledge of alive growing things I plan on sharing "how to" gardening ideas. This is gardening of all types, house plants, edibles, herbs, annuals, perennials, trees, ponds, pond plants, irrigation systems, shrubs, landscaping ideas... anything to do with plants and their care. Lots of the content I write will consequently be about green things! Since I have many other interests and like telling stories too, these hubs I will be writing, with luck, will be worth your time and have you coming back here to read!

Once in awhile who knows what might get thrown into the mix? I managed a retail nursery and flower shop that employed 5-25 people, depending on the season, for several years. The knowledge and skills I acquired with plants are there. I just need to learn how to share with other gardeners and lovers of green things in this forum. Considering I am 100% new to this, ANY positive input and help will be hugely appreciated.

If you have any garden questions please ask me if I can help you with it? I will if I can while at the same time I won't pretend to know an answer if I don't. It will help you and definitely help me towards my goal of gaining experience with on line writing to eventually be able to earn a living. Hopefully, at least partially supporting myself, soon since the job search has proved fruitless and unemployment benefits are nearly gone.

Writing about things I love will help me live my personal 'mission statement' of "Joy. Honesty. Meaning." .

Hoping to be of help and chat with many of you soon!  Debbie
